When the 101st anniversary of Mark Twain's death nears, the secrets of a forgotten North Sea island are revealed. Entrusted with the literary equivalent of an atomic bomb, an eclectic band of mistrusting islanders wrestle with the promises that their ancestors made to the famed author a century earlier. Their xenophobia and covenant with the past is challenged when an outsider with an unclear agenda is brought to the island. The fate of Twain's last book rests with fanatical fisherman, philosophical sheep headers, an agnostic priest and a literary agent who is seeking more than just a good book.
